Some People Eat to Live. I Live to Eat. 😂

I have a confession.

I LOVE food. Not just like it. Not just appreciate a good meal. I mean, I genuinely get excited about FOOD. The flavors. The textures. The smells. The experience of trying something I’ve never tasted before.

And don’t even get me started on a really good meal that someone else has prepared. HEAVEN.

Some people plan vacations around museums, beaches, or historical landmarks. Me? I’m absolutely looking up where we’re going to EAT. 😂 My son and I MUST visit a “Diner, Drive In, & Dive” every time we travel!

Don’t get me wrong. I love exploring new places, learning about different cultures, and experiencing everything a destination has to offer. But I also believe you can learn an incredible amount about a culture through its food.

What people cook. How they prepare it. The traditions surrounding a meal. The stories passed down through generations. And, of course, what happens when everyone gathers around the table.

I love trying new things. Give me something I’ve never heard of, tell me why it’s special, and I’m probably going to want a bite.

But I also have a deep appreciation for comfort food. You know the kind. The meal that makes you close your eyes after the first bite. The dish that brings back a memory. The food that somehow makes everything feel a little better, even if just for a moment.

And as much as I love eating, I also love cooking for other people. There’s something about preparing a meal for someone that feels incredibly personal to me. It’s one of the ways I show love. I want people to feel welcomed. I want them to relax. I want them to enjoy themselves. And yes, I want them to go back for seconds. 😂 Because food has this amazing ability to bring people together.

Think about some of your favorite memories. How many of them involve a meal? A holiday dinner. A favorite restaurant. A late-night snack with someone you love. A recipe that reminds you of someone who’s no longer here.

Sometimes the food itself isn’t even the most important part. It’s the people sitting around the table. The conversations. The laughter. The memories being created without anyone realizing it. Of course, sometimes it really IS about the food. Because a perfectly prepared meal deserves its moment. 😂

So, if you ever want to make me happy, you don’t need to plan anything elaborate. Find a great place to eat. Introduce me to something delicious. Or invite me into your kitchen and teach me how to make something you love. I’m in.

Life is too short for boring food. And there’s always room at my table for one more.
